No, insurance is not required to receive care at an Arkansas Health Unit. If you have insurance, we may bill your insurance for any healthcare services we provide. However, there will be no out-of-pocket cost to the patient, and you will not receive a bill from an AHU. If you do not have insurance, care will be provided at no cost to you.
AHU staff offer prenatal care services to help keep you and your baby healthy, as well as education on nutrition, breastfeeding, mental health, newborn care, and postpartum recovery. They can also connect you with programs like WIC, home visiting, and other community resources that support you before and after birth.
Early prenatal care helps you learn what to expect during pregnancy, understand how your baby is developing, and identify any health concerns before they become serious. Regular visits also give you a chance to ask questions, learn about nutrition, and understand how to keep yourself and your baby healthy throughout each trimester.
