Get Nutritional Support When It Matters Most
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income individuals and families, including pregnant and postpartum women, afford nutritious food by providing monthly benefits through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that can be used at grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and other approved food retailers. SNAP for pregnant women is especially important because during pregnancy and immediately following the birth, proper nutrition supports both maternal health and a baby’s growth and development.
SNAP Qualifications
You must:
- Live in Arkansas
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Have applied for or have a Social Security number
- Verify your identity
- Meet resource limit
- Meet income limit based on your family size
Most households also need to meet certain work requirements unless exempt. For example, people caring for young children often qualify for exemptions, making SNAP for pregnant women more attainable.
