Unlock the Power of Life-Changing Support

The Arkansas Department of Health and Arkansas Health Units offer an array of maternal services across the state. While the exact services offered at each location vary, all are equipped to answer your questions and connect you with the resources you need – no questions asked.

All services are available to any woman at little or no cost. If you have insurance, the Arkansas Department of Health will bill insurance for any services provided. If you don’t have insurance, services will still be provided at no cost to you. This allows women to access prenatal care without insurance.

What We Offer

Pregnancy Testing

Confirming your pregnancy in a clinical setting is needed to unlock all the benefits and resources available to you. You can take an in-office pregnancy to get official pregnancy confirmation as well as personal assurance.

Prenatal Visits

Your Arkansas Health Unit offers routine prenatal visits to help monitor your needs throughout your pregnancy and connect you to a healthcare provider to see you through delivery. These prenatal care services also include education and counseling for each phase of pregnancy.

Screenings

From STI testing to blood tests and depression screenings, Arkansas Health Units offer a range of routine screenings that you can access without leaving your community.

Mental Health Support

Anxiety, depression and other mental health struggles are common both during pregnancy and postpartum. Arkansas Health Units offer maternal mental health support and can connect women with further help if needed.

Food Assistance Consultation

You may be eligible for Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) or Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Your Arkansas Health Unit staff is standing by to walk through your application and help you access the benefits available to you.

Vaccinations

Protect yourself and your baby by making sure your vaccinations are up to date, and by getting the immunizations recommended during pregnancy.

Postpartum Support

In addition to prenatal care services, you can also find postpartum support at your Arkansas Health Unit. From postpartum wellness checks to breastfeeding support, we’re here to ensure you have the care you need after your baby arrives.

Breastfeeding Support

From lactation consultants to peer counselors to a 24/7 breastfeeding hotline to help getting a breast pump, you can find all the resources you need on your breastfeeding journey.

Care Coordination

Care coordination helps ensure you receive the care and support you need throughout pregnancy and after your baby is born. Arkansas Health Unit staff can help connect you with healthcare providers, screenings, mental health services, and other community resources that support your health and well-being.

Community Health Worker (CHW) Connections

Community Health Workers provide guidance and support by helping you navigate healthcare services and community programs. They can connect you with resources like food assistance, transportation, and other services that help support healthy pregnancies and families.

Home Visiting Programs

Home visiting programs provide personalized support for families during pregnancy and after birth. Trained professionals visit with you to offer health education, parenting guidance, developmental screenings, and connections to services that help you and your baby thrive.
