About Claim Your Care
Claim Your Care is a statewide maternal health awareness initiative led by the Arkansas Department of Health to connect women to care earlier in pregnancy and improve outcomes for mothers, babies, and families across Arkansas.
Built around the message, “If you think you may be pregnant, start at your local Arkansas Health Unit,” the campaign addresses awareness as a key barrier to early care. It equips families with clear information to take action and provides partners and providers with a unified platform to amplify that message.
Through a coordinated, multi-channel approach spanning public awareness, community engagement, and digital resources, the campaign directs families to ClaimYourCareAR.com, where they can learn about services and find their nearest Arkansas Health Unit.
Claim Your Care positions Arkansas Health Units as the front door to maternal health services, ensuring women are met with clear guidance, compassionate support, and a confident next step when they seek care.
Why This Matters
Arkansas faces significant maternal health challenges that make early access to care critical:
- Arkansas has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the nation
- Early prenatal care reduces the risk of complications, preterm birth, and maternal death
- Arkansas Health Units offer free or low-cost services in all 75 counties, yet awareness remains low
- Barriers including geography, transportation, cost, and lack of awareness prevent women from accessing care
Research shows awareness gaps are a primary barrier:
- 40 percent of women on Medicaid do not receive prenatal care in their first trimester
- 78 percent of women are not aware Arkansas Health Units provide pregnancy support
